Jessie Bangs was born and raised in South Louisiana.  She always knew she had a calling to help people.  Her mother, who is a registered nurse, has always inspired her to become a healer.  In 2006, she earned a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana.  She decided to share her love of biology with young minds and has been involved in educating students grades 7-12 for the past 5 years.   Her love of Eastern philosophy and Taoism led her on her journey to acupuncture.  She first began reading books on Traditional Chinese Medicine while in college.

She fell in love with the theories at first, then later decided to get an acupuncture treatment herself for allergies, stress, and poor sleep.  When she instantly felt relief from her ailments, she knew she wanted to seriously study it so that she could heal others with this gentle medicine. In 2008, Jessie decided to take the leap and move to Austin to study Oriental Medicine at Texas Health and Science University.            She earned her Master’s in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in August of 2013.  Jessie is excited to have the privilege to heal others, and her involvement in education assists Jessie greatly in explaining to her patients the sometimes-confusing ideas behind Traditional Chinese Medicine.  For fun, Jessie enjoys going to local music shows, jogging, writing, and practicing her violin.

Acupuncture is an ancient form of medicine that roots back about 2000 years.  Modern day scientific studies have proven acupuncture’s effectiveness for many types of ailments including pain, allergies, irregular menses, irregular digestion, irregular sleep, headaches, and stress.  Acupuncture works by tapping into the body’s natural healing resources.  Every body has the potential to heal itself, but often times the body needs a “boost” to help assist in tipping the scales on the health side; this is where acupuncture comes in.  Acupuncture also induces the release of endorphins, which are the body’s natural painkillers.  This is why many patients report feeling so calm and at ease after acupuncture treatments.  Every individual reacts differently to acupuncture and how quickly patients’ symptoms are resolved depends on many different factors.  Most people will feel some type of relief after the first treatment, but on average, it takes about 5-6 treatments before significant improvement is noted.
